Bee Propolis
The term "propolis" comes from two Greek words: "pro," which means "before," and "polis," which means "city." This ancient term came into being centuries ago when some early Greek student of Nature established the fact that honeybees use propolis to narrow the opening into their "cities," or hives, to keep out unwelcomed intruders. Many sources attribute the word to Aristotle (384-322 B.C.)
 

What is Propolis ?
Propolis is a sticky resin that seeps from the buds of some trees and oozes from the bark of other trees, chiefly conifers. The bees gather propolis, sometimes called bee glue, and carry it home in their pollen baskets. They blend it with wax flakes secreted from special glands on their abdomens. Propolis is used to slickly line the interior of brood cells in preparation for the queen's laying of eggs, a most important procedure. With its antiseptic properties, this propolis lining insures a hospital-clean environment for the rearing of brood.

The Constituents of Propolis
Chemically speaking, propolis is a very complex mixture. Its chemical elements vary according to its source. Colors range from golden brown to brownish green to reddish brown to blackish brown. A broad analysis reveals approximately 55 percent resinous compounds and balsam, 30 percent beeswax, 10 percent ethereal and aromatic oils, and 5 percent bee pollen. Many flavonols contribute to propolis. Other components include cinnamic acid, cinnamyl alcohol, vanillin, caffeic acid, tetochrysin, isalpinin, pinocembrin, chrysin, galangin, and ferulic acid.

The Properties of Propolis
Propolis is another medicinal marvel from the beehive. Research shows it offers antiseptic, antibiotic, antibacterial, antifungal, and even antiviral properties. Propolis is Nature's premiere preventive. Tindakan dianggap cubaan bunuh boleh dipenjara 20 tahun; Polis guna ujian DNA kenal pasti ibu bapa bayi

KUALA LUMPUR: Kabinet memutuskan kes pembuangan bayi disiasat sebagai kes bunuh atau percubaan membunuh bagi memastikan perbuatan tidak berperikemanusiaan itu menerima hukuman berat. Kes bunuh disiasat mengikut Seksyen 302 Kanun Keseksaan yang membawa hukuman gantung sampai mati, manakala kes percubaan membunuh mengikut Seksyen 307 kanun sama membawa hukuman penjara maksimum 20 tahun.
 
Sebelum ini, semua kes pembuangan bayi disiasat mengikut Seksyen 31 Akta Kanak-kanak yang boleh dihukum denda maksimum RM20,000 atau penjara 10 tahun atau kedua-duanya sekali jika sabit kesalahan. Bagi tempoh 2008 hingga 2009, sebanyak 181 kes pembuangan bayi dilaporkan manakala 60 kes direkodkan sejak awal tahun ini hingga semalam.Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, berkata bukan saja wanita terbabit dengan kes pembuangan bayi akan dikenakan siasatan tetapi juga lelaki yang menyebabkan wanita itu mengandung. 

Katanya, polis juga diminta menggunakan kaedah ujian asid deoksiribonukleik (DNA) untuk mengenal pasti ibu bapa bayi berkenaan. Keputusan itu dicapai selepas kementerian sekali lagi membawa isu pembuangan bayi ke mesyuarat Jemaah Menteri kelmarin kerana perbuatan itu berleluasa walaupun kerajaan mengambil pelbagai inisiatif menangani masalah berkenaan.  Saya tidak mahu ada pihak mengambil ringan kes pembuangan bayi sehingga membiarkan menjadi budaya yang menular dalam masyarakat seolah-olah kita berada pada zaman jahiliah. 

Sekian lama kerajaan menangani masalah kes pembuangan bayi menerusi pendekatan kebajikan termasuk kempen dan pelbagai program, malangnya masih ada manusia sanggup membunuh bayi, katanya selepas majlis penyerahan bantuan khas perbendaharaan kira-kira RM2.7 juta kepada 59 pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) di kementeriannya, semalam.  Shahrizat berkata, langkah itu wajar untuk membawa pihak bertanggungjawab membunuh bayi dihadapkan ke mahkamah, sekali gus diberikan hukuman setimpal dengan tindakan tidak berperikemanusiaan. Oleh itu, tiada alasan dan maaf bagi mereka yang masih sanggup melakukan kesalahan membuang bayi kerana pelbagai program dan bantuan disediakan untuk golongan berkenaan. Saya juga mahu memberi amaran kepada lelaki yang bertanggungjawab menyebabkan wanita hamil luar nikah bahawa mereka tidak terlepas daripada tindakan undang-undang, katanya. 

Oleh itu teman-teman berilah pendapat dan buah fikiran masing-masing apakah tindakan yang kita akan ambil untuk sama-sama menangani masalah gejala sosial ini dari terus berlaku dengan berleluasa sekali.  TEPUK DADA TANYA MINDA ANDA SENDIRI ..

Saya juga telah melakukan kajian sendiri selama satu tahun bermula akhir 2008 hingga November 2009 mengenai masalah remaja terutamanya yang sedang meningkat usia dari 13 - 16 tahun.  Usia inilah ramai sekali remaja-remaja sekolah yang terjebak dengan gejala sosial.  Pernah beberapa kali saya bersama-sama pihak Polis mengesan beberapa remaja perempuan yang lari dari rumah, lari dari sekolah dan turut juga sama-sama menemuduga beberapa orang remaja perempuan berumur antara 13 - 15 tahun secara terus dengan mereka dan menghayati apa jua cerita mereka seolah-olah saya berada di zaman dan peringkat umur mereka.  Kerana sekiranya saya tidak ke arah itu, mereka tidak akan menceritakan apa-apa dan memberikan kerjasama.

Terlalu sedih di peringkat umur yang sedemikian, ada diantara mereka yang sudah melakukan hubungan terlarang, dan cerita mengenai seks sudah menjadi bualan antara kawan-kawan tanpa ada perasan segan silu.  Pernah saya dilantik menjadi AJK MPWK (tidak perlu saya sebutkan parlimen mana) dan menyuarakan tentang perkara ini, tetapi tidak nampak apa yang saya suarakan diambil tindakan yang serius.  Tidak dinafikan bahawa aktiviti MPWK banyak membantu golongan wanita dari segi sosio ekonomi tetapi perlu ingat juga bahawa masalah sosial anak masing-masing jangan terlepas pandang.

Ada seorang teman saya, dari JIM (beliau merupakan seorang Fasilitator) menceritakan bahawa telah dijemput oleh sebuat sekolah untuk membantu menangani dengan memberi kelas motivasi kepada pelajar-pelajar sekolah tersebut yang majoriti terbabit di dalam gejala sosial.  Terlalu sedih, bila mendengarkan apa yang diceritakan oleh beliau.  Hampir 100 orang pelajar telah di beri motivasi di sebuah tempat luar dari sekolah selama 2 hari,... Ada yang pernah mengandung, ada yang langsung tidak pernah tahu mengaji ..dan macam-macam lagi kerana saya menjadi takut dengan keadaan yang berlaku sekarang ini.

Ini merupakan satu perkongsian dari saya,...Bertindak lah demi Agama, Bangsa dan Negara.   Inshaallah, jika kita bersatu tentu gejala ini dapat ditangani dari terus menjadi semakin tidak terkawal.
